‘Kantara’ and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi directed by Rishab Shetty and Sanjay Leela Bhansali jointly have been rated as the Best Feature Film of 2022 closely followed by Pan Nalin’s ‘Chhello Show’. Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan I finds the third spot. Actor and Kunchacko Boban tops the list for his performances across three feature films while Rishab Shetty follows him closely as the Second spot for his masterful performance in ‘Kantara’.
The third spot is shared jointly by three actors R Madhavan, Kamal Hassan and Vijay Sethupati. Alia Bhatt tops the list far ahead of her competitor Sai Pallavi who is placed in the second spot while Deepika Padukone finds herself in the third spot.
The ratings were contributed by renowned Film Critics from all over the country Baradwaj Rangan (Chennai), Swapan Mullick (Kolkata), M K Raghavendra (Bangalore), Dalton Christopher (Kochi), Murtaza Ali Khan (New Delhi) and Utpal Datta (Guwahati). Organized by the Indian Film Institute established by
Manoj Srivastava, Former Head of IFFI Goa and Saibal Chatterjee, Film Critic, the ratings are spread over three categories only and cover over a pool of 41 feature films from all filmmaking regions of the country. The films rated by Film Critics as Number 1 are given 10 marks and so on. The final compilation is released by the Institute each year. Talking about the ratings, Manoj Srivastava, Chairman, Indian Film Institute said,
”The IFI bases its selection of Jurors keeping in mind proper representation of all film making regions and strives to maintain transparency in award selection process. These are by far the most respected and honest ratings anywhere in the country.”
